Meet Melisa

Melisa Islamagić serves as Director of Communications for the Bosnian Herzeogvinians Association of Iowa, leading strategic messaging, community outreach, and engagement efforts to advance the organization’s mission. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, providing a strong academic foundation in governance, policy, and public service. Born in Bosnia and raised in both Germany and the United States, Melisa developed an early appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives, reflected in her fluency in multiple languages and her passion for travel. In her professional career in information technology, she applies critical thinking, systems analysis, and project management skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. She is known for bridging technical expertise with clear and accessible communication, strengthening both internal collaboration and external engagement. Beyond her professional work, Melisa embraces veganism,  sustainable living, and continuous personal growth. Through her leadership in communications and commitment to community engagement, she strives to make a meaningful impact and inspire others to get involved.
